What is all the hype? VR has been around for half a century. Is it just a fad or will it stick around.
It’s going to be big. Why? It is now more accessible to the common person. One problem before was creating devices that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. With smart phones, most people already have the technology in their pocket. They just need the goggles, download some apps and they can use VR.
Most of the hype is in gaming, but the possibilities are endless. Look around you right now. What do you see? How could VR augment or help anything that is within your sight right now. I see a book. VR could put that book into a virtual world, helping the reader understand the meaning. I also see a tea set. The makers could make a 360 video of people drinking from the tea set, then market it on their website. Oh, over there. I see some dumbbells. A fitness trainer could help people get in shape.
So, what do you think? Is it going to be big? What about wearing goggles? I certainly didn’t think much of Google Glasses, because I could never see myself going outside in those. But using VR goggles at home to study or relax, I could see that.
